Five Strategies for Blogging Success

November 10, 2012 by Lalit Suryan 3 Comments

A blog can be an excellent tool for any business – as long as it’s done right. Many business blogs are launched, only to fail with no real benefit achieved for neither the business nor the target audience. If you want to make sure your blogging efforts are successful, here are five strategies you need to implement.

Five Strategies for Blogging Success

Post Expert Content

The content of your blog needs to attract and keep the attention of your target audience. The best way to do this is with expert content – unique expert content. Your blog should become a valuable resource that offers relevant, interesting, and helpful content that absolutely cannot be found anywhere else. Always make sure to call in the real experts, and offer advice that readers can really use. Successful blogs are legitimate and have real value; they’re written for the benefit of the readers and only as marketing tools.

Update Regularly

You certainly don’t want to launch your blog and then abandon it, because that would defeat the purpose of it. Equally as bad, however, is updating irregularly or infrequently. Your blog should be updated at least two or three times per week, preferably more. Your readers need to be able to anticipate and expect updates. If they’re unsure when you’re going to post anything new, or if you fail to post anything new for an extended period of time, they won’t waste their time by coming back. Create a strict posting schedule and stick to it in order to build loyalty.

Build Email Lists

Your blog provides you with an excellent opportunity to gather information about your customers and to build your direct email marketing lists. Try to leverage your blog by getting your readers to sign up for your newsletter, for example. A great way to build your email list is by offering a free download to your readers, such as an ebook or other educational materials. Blog readers respond very well to these tactics.

Monitor Readers’ Comments

You shouldn’t edit readers’ comments or delete them just because you disagree with what someone says, but you should very carefully monitor all the comments on your blog. If you wish, you can impose posting rules that outline what readers can and cannot post. Most importantly, you should be strict about removing any spam comments on your site. A “do follow” site will get more spam, and you do not want spam to overrun your blog, or your real readers will be annoyed that your blog is turning into a classifieds section rather than a real discussion forum.

Be Careful with Promotions

It’s very common for blogs to promote products and services in their posts, and it’s not necessarily a bad thing to do so. You have to be very careful, however, not to overdo it. Shamelessly promoting products will make your blog feel insincere, like a pure marketing ploy. Consider how your promotions will come across to new readers, and carefully balance promotions by keeping them to a minimum.

In spite of all these, a blogger is likely to fail!

Building good relations with other bloggers and also having a good relation with people is important for a blogger. Because those relations help you get comments on your blog!
Well, this is just my personal observation.
